In order to coordinate Outage Planning in a Capacity Capacity Region (CCR), Regional TSOs within a specific of Capacity Calculation Region submit to Regional Security Coordinator all recent availability plans for the important assets of their systems, for non-important assets that are capable to affect outage planning as well and contingency scenarios to be explored at different time frames. The time frames used are Year-ahead (Y-1) and Week-ahead (W-1). The aim is to identify any outage incompatibilities in Regional Operational Security Analysis through running simulations of Common Grid Model. The RSCs then coordinate their analysis with other RSCs assessment reports and submit the results evaluation to the TSOs, who should take them into account in Maintenance Planning of their systems.
As for the overall benefit OPC is limiting pan-European consequence of necessary outages in grid and production by relevant coordination of planned outages timing.
